Retribution? Respect? Love? Nothing? For whatever reason, this question doesn’t get asked often—and when it does, the answer varies widely depending on who’s asked. From my time working inside prisons and on criminal justice reform more broadly, I’d contend there are (at least) five things that are worth considering if one’s goal is to help this incredibly important, yet systematically neglected population.
